A DAY I'LL NEVER FORGET

Because I did not have the time to make a topic about what I experienced with pareng ondoy when he came and revenge in our village I decided to make this as my topic today :). Enjoy the story =).

------------------------
I surely will never forget, never…ever. Quite right, the day that typhoon ondoy played it’s role as the mother earth taking revenge on us. A day wherein hundreds of people regret for what they have done. A day wherein what we did to nature came back to us and even worse. The day wherein thousands, millions or even billions of properties and lives were destroyed. Of course the day wherein I can only hear heavy pour of rain, rushing water and people screaming for help. The worst part, the day that my two eyes saw teenagers, middle-aged woman and man, old man and woman and babies lying by the sidewalk and floating in the water dead covered with mud. The worst scenario that I have seen. So here's the story

--------------------------
SEPTEMBER 26, 2009 - 11:53 am

I woke up that morning ( exactly 9:27 am ) because of the heavy raindrops that I can hear. I am actually happy it’s raining because i’ts a hobby for us to shower in the rain. After opening my ym me and my aunt decided to shower in the rain. When my dad got home from roaming around the village he said that the water level in our village’s chapel is up to his chest ( he’s tall). At first we did not believe in what he is saying because it’s impossible for the water to reach up to that level for it’s quite high and he was saying those words while he is smiling. So we decided to go to the chapel for us to know if it’s real. Because our street is the 2nd to the last street in the village the water level is just above our ankle. But when we reach the nearby street to the chapel we decided not to continue going to the chapel because the water level is in our waist ( and we’re not that tall XD ) . So we just went to the so called “dike”. The place in our village wherein you can see the Marikina river. And there the water is so close to entering our village maybe it only take 2-3 inches to enter the village. So after that we decided to go home and tell to my mom about what we saw. After a few minutes of talking I went into the house to shut down the laptop. While I was putting it in the bag I heard my mom shouting so I rushed into the store and she asked me to get more boxes so we could put the panindas inside. I ask my other aunt to carry the boxes while I carry the gadgets and books upstairs. When I peeked in the window I saw the water rushing in the road. The water is colored brown and it came from the river nearby. So I hurriedly went down to take the other stuffs upstairs. After that I went to the store and help them put the stuffs inside the box. I didn’t notice our two visitors still eating in the table. When I last saw the water it’s just by our gate but when I went downstairs again it’s already up to our knee. So again we hurriedly carry the things upstairs it took us only 5 minutes but when we went downstairs again the water level is up to our waist. The water is rising quickly. We were panicking at that very moment. When we went to the other house I saw our puppies swimming :D ( they’re so cute but they died after ) . So when we went there my dad was trying to open the door because my tita and tito we’re trap outside and the water level outside is above their height. I don’t want to see the scenario so I just went back to the first house as my heart beats faster and faster. I went upstairs and just sat down on the bed for I don’t know what to do. I can hear the window glasses breaking, my mom shouting, our visitor who’s also shouting. I can see them panicking finding a place where we can stay because the water is already close to the second floor. My mom was already in the second floor of the second house while I was in the first house. She shouted my name and I answered back for her not to worry. She said I should go in the second house. So my tita was the first one to go in the not so wide window and she cross carefully to get into the second house. I go in next, my hands are sweating, my heart beats faster and faster for if I only make one wrong small step I’ll end up falling ( worse than drowning ). As we gathered in the terrace of the second house we were staring at the rushing water. We didn’t expect that it would be so high. As the hour passed the water in the second floor is getting higher so we decided to stay at house roof. We stayed there together with our neighbors and our visitors worse is our neighbor has a baby. Our visitor was my cousin’s aunt. She’s a lawyer. She contact all of our relatives who’s not affected by the typhoon so that we could get some rescue. Hours passed and we’re still hoping that we could get out of the village but still we can only hear raindrops. It’s already 10 or 11 pm when we heard a chopper so we get some flashlight and scream for help. We thought that’s our chance to be rescued but no, the chopper was just roaming around. It’s already 3 am and luckily the water lowered a bit. So we slept and when I woke up I didn’t see water anymore all I can see is mud ( looks like melted chocolate XD ). It was 9 am when we had the chance to leave the village. The man in the family stayed to take care of the house. When we were in the main entrance of the village it was crowded. I can hear people crying, beeping cars and rescuers shouting to the relatives of those who are were still not rescued. I'm lucky that I have relatives in abroad to help us. I wanna help to the others but how? we all lost everything so I every 26th of each month I prayed for their souls.
